Electrical Switch Plates
Waterjet
cutting was the preferred method of cutting these electrical
switch plates. The plates were pre-made and because of the
required, intricate cutout, turret punching or laser cutting
were not options. Turret punching would require a specialized
die. If it was possible to make this die, it would be expensive
and it would dull quickly in production. Laser cutting would
be eliminated because the equipment would not fit into the
small cutting space of these preformed electrical plates.
Waterjet cutting was the best option for this
project on three counts: it was the most efficient, the most
economical and it rendered the best quality part over the
other options.
